My wife is at the plant picking colors and trying to buy every option that's offered for our to-be-built 5er. I wanted a couple of things too like the axle and 15" wheels, 2" bike hitch, 2 upgraded Fantastics, taller faucet, exterior door grab handle, powered front stabs, etc. What I really didn't want and which could have been a deal breaker was those 2 ceiling hatches. For too many reasons to list I don't want 'em and Micah says I don't have to have 'em. The order is going forward.

"Escape" hatch = gone
Very interesting, sounds like you are getting it pretty tricked out.
I didn't know they could get rid of the escape hatch vents, always thought that would be some kind of federal safety regulation or something. So are your two fantastic fans going to be in the same locations as the escape vents then?
I've always wanted to get a Scamp 13 without that escape vent and just a fantastic fan in it's place so maybe they can do that on the 13 as well.
When's your due date for the 5er??

I was also concerned about some law and had sent them an offer to provide 2 emergency pop out slider windows like everybody else in the industry has. Micah said there is no requirement for an escape avenue when a door is within 3'. The fans will go where the hatches would have been.
I wanted a lot more too, like a deeper sink, taller faucet, joined grey/black outlet, scissor jacks, outside shower, outside storage hatch, marine type shore power receptacle. I offered to ship all the parts and pay labor to install at the convenient time of the build. That's not going to work out on most all of that due to their labor pricing and cost of their provided parts. For instance, he wanted $525 to combine the sewer lines and $700 for 2 FanTastic model upgrades and $285 for scissor jacks. And for the life of me I don't understand why they don't have an exterior handle at the door as a standard item without $155 charge. Oh well, I suppose Larry at Little House Custom will get some more of my business.
Due date is December and I'm still trying to wrap my head around a trip up/down I 35 from Austin then.
bobnjudy, tho we love Scamp trailers and their after sale customer is great, they just wont hardly make no changes to what they sell,we wanted to trade up to a 16ft and called them,i wanted the front window in the bath and they just werent willing to put one in,we said we would pay whatever it cost to have that window,we had in our 2015 13ft and I wanted that little window! They would not budge on it,so it was a deal breaker with us.I know it sounds pretty petty to most, but at my age,I figure we should be able to have want we want on something being ordered. The thought of us starting to cut on the shell of something brand new just wasn't an option to think about. Some of the things you are wanting can be added after the build but someone told us,sometimes depending on what you do,it might void your warrenty..Good luck on your travels up 35 way north in December

If you get either an air conditioner or the FREE air conditioner prep (without the actual AC unit) there is no escape hatch. Our brand nw 2015 13 footer has teh Fantastic Fan and A/C prep but no escape hatch.
My exterior grab handle at the left of the door was just $10.00 on sale at the hardware store. It was actually a shower grab handle, but looks great where it's at. My technician at the factory put it on as a last effort thank you for my work done at he factory. He even put a wood doubler at the back of he handle. Access is up above the entry for,the back side of the fridge.

Doug,
Do you have a picture of your grab handle. I've thought of one too.
