My Scamp is headed to Texas!!

Hello, All!  If you spot a new little 13 foot Scamp headed south, it just might be my first ever travel trailer on its way to our home in Texas!!  It's due to be delivered Friday or Saturday - and I'm so incredibly excited that I probably won't sleep between now and then!!

Excited, too, about becoming a member of SOI!  Have enjoyed following the forums for a while now - and appreciate all the great tips.  There seems to be something special about Scamp owners - such a kind, welcoming, and informative group!  Looking forward to communicating with you all, and meeting you in person somewhere down the road!

Pics of the new Scamp

Thanks, Greg.  I had so much fun starting to personalize my new little Scamp this weekend!  (And I wish I could do more right now rather than grade papers! - but obviously I'm taking a break from the grading!!)

Tow vehicle is a Subaru Forester - works great!

Options we chose - AC, furnace, extra propane tank, toilet/shower, 54" bed, extra outlets (12V and 120V), elec brakes, extra hitch receiver in back for a bike rack, reading lights, fan in ceiling, wheel for jack, backsplash over sink/stove, stove cover.  So very happy with it!!

Let's see if I can figure out how to post pics . . . (The interior ones were taken at night with only the lights inside the trailer so they're not too great.)  Starting to work on curtains; using the ones that came with the trailer as liners.  The flowers above the sink are vinyl clings from a craft store.  Pics on closet door are on fabric-covered cork.

Looking forward to getting it on the road - and meeting other SOI members - soon!  Thanks to all for the great info you've provided!

Tow Vehicle

Hello,

I have the same set up you have, including the tow vehicle.  I am planning a trip to Sedona this summer from Salt lake area and am concerned about towing through some of the steeper grades in AZ.  Just wondering if you have had any experienced towing your rig through 6 or 7 percent grades?

RE: Towing on grades

Haha!  I haven't even towed my trailer a foot yet!  It was delivered on Friday from the factory to our home in Texas (because we weren't brave enough to try to learn to pull it in the freezing northern weather!) and, other than my husband taking it to wash the road grime off, it hasn't budged!  Sounds like a great trip you have planned!

Good Luck!

Best to you in your travels.  I envy you moving to better weather. We are stuck here in New Jersey until my Scamp is delivered in Aprll http://bsellen.blogspot.com/

Better weather

CharlieWhiskey, I was BORN in this great Texas weather!  I see that my original post's title was misleading.  It sounds like I was headed south; instead, it was just my trailer was headed south to join me!  I know how excited you are waiting for your Scamp to arrive!!

Looks Nice!

Your Scamp is already looking very "homey".   Isn't that the new "red" color on the cabinets?  I really like the little flower/vase deco.

Cabinet color

Hi, Snow Gypsy!  I have no idea what they call the color of the cabinets, but they're pretty!  We got the stove cover, too, which is made of the same wood and looks nice for extra counter space.

Interior help

Here at home we use museum putty. It's blue, soft and pliable. You pull off a small chunk, roll it up, stretch to the desired size, press it down to the bottom of a small vase or lamp, and press it to the desired surface. It will not move! I saw your bud vases and this came to mind. We have 3 very curious cats here at home, and when we use museum putty under lamps and vases, no movement even by curious cats! Your bud vases would stay put, even when towing.

Museum putty

Thanks for the tip, Flyboy Scamp!  I had originally wanted to put a tiny pot of artificial flowers on the countertop but figured that wouldn't last.  Glad to hear it's possible!

Have really appreciated all the info in your posts!
