We have a 2020 13ft scamp and think about getting rid of this sharp and dangerous table hardware. When we setup the bed, we are currently covering the latches on which the table hangs in the folded-up position to be safe while sleeping. We are considering to install one of those telescoping table legs, like this part from etrailer: Terran Industries Telescoping Dinette Table Leg
Has anyone done this, or has any recommendations or thoughts on this subject? My concern is whether the floor boards are sturdy enough to hold this telescope leg in place.

I have a 2021 13' with the larger bed. I had to go look as I couldn't even remember the hardware being exposed. It's never been a topic of conversation with my gf. I think because of the curvature of the corners, perhaps she never touches that part. Not saying it's not an issue for you. It just hasn't been for us. We use a ~1" topper and perhaps that covers the bottom hardware.
We use the space under the bed to stash things for the night like backpacks and such. Would a pedestal obstruct that?
Scamp has a new configuration option that has rear bench seating for the table as well as the sides. It uses a telescoping support for the table. You could call them and see what brand they are using. I've always found them to be extremely helpful. I've stopped in the Phoenix store and there's a guy there whose name I've misplaced that does all the work on the trailers (maintenance, mods, etc.). Lyle I think his name is. He gave me some good advice about some maintenance I needed to do on mine. I'm sure he'd be helpful for you.
Edit: something just occurred to me. Velcro sticks to the rat fur. Could you cut a piece of heavy material large enough to cover the hardware with Velcro at the top, and just stick it on when you set up the bed?
