Hot water temp control

Hi folks,

I can't find an answer in other posts (may be there!), so I'll ask here. I have a 13' with a suburban propane hot water heater with the electronic ignition switch inside. Works great, maybe a little too great. The hot water is scalding hot. I forgot to warn a friend and she nearly burned her hand. I can see no way to modulate the temperature. Is that really the case?

fyi, I did change to the higher altitude jets that were included as I live at 5,000' and often camp at higher altitudes. I don't think that affects the water temp but figured I'd mention it.

Thanks

Tom

Model number and photo?

There are some devices that can add temperature adjustment for some units,
I've never had an adjustable Suburban water heater.

Water heater Model

The model number is SAW6D

The instructional materials show a high limit / tstat module but go on to simply show it as the high limit cutoff (180°) and how to manually reset it.

I found nothing for that unit

Only option is a choice between 130 and 140 degree preset t-stats.

Choice of tstats?

Thanks but I'm confused. Reading the manuals I see no option to change any temp. The only thing I see is a high temp cutoff at 180°. Did I miss something?

Mine had two

Mine years ago had two side by side, the180 is a safety shut down and the other 130 or 140 was the normal water temperature..

Water heater stat

Thanks. I'll check further. I guess there would have to be some sort of thermostat or the device would just keep heating.

thanks
