Dual propane tank regulator

I have the dual tank setup on my 2022 Scamp 13.  The regulator is supposed to show either green or red, depending on if there is propane in the tank.  I am having trouble seeing a color in the regulator...it looks very dark or black to me.  Is that what they consider green?  I have a picture attached.  Maybe the propane lasts longer than I think it does, but by now I would think one of the tanks would have been emptied.  I ran the fridge for over 3 weeks on propane this summer...plus used the cooktop and water heater.

Propane level

Your regulator may not have the red/green indicator. It isn't really that  useful.  All it indicates is empty or not empty.  It doesn't give any indication of propane levels. I weigh the tanks to know how much is in them. This isn't very convenient when on the road.  In that case i pour hot water down the side of the tank. I can feel the temperature difference on the side of the tank and get a good idea of how much is left.

Two 20 lb tanks will usually last me a season.  This is about 6-8 weeks of refrigerator,  water heater, cooktop and occasional furnace use

I have the dual tank switch

I have the dual tank switch-over regulator and rely on it completely. One tank can last us more than a week, so I check the indicator about every other day. If one is empty (red and green showing), I switch the lever to the full one (green showing), and start figuring where we can get a refill, or an exchange. It is usually not very far to drive to get one.

That hot water test for the level of the liquid in the tank is a good one. I usually go by feeling the weight after loosening the hold down, and if the tank seems low, I sometimes disconnect it and shake it to see if there is any liquid sloshing. When it it low, it is also easier to manhandle it.

The picture in the OP does not look like the dual tank switch-over regulator - or is the picture cropped?

I see it now!

Thanks for the replies.  I was looking at the wrong part, thinking the small window in that regulator was where the red/green color would be.  I now see that it is above the regulator...or whatever that big aluminum piece is called.

That big round "thing" on the

That big round "thing" on the regulator is the part that supports the membrane that responds to the tank pressure and opens or closes the valve that allows more, or less gas flow, as required by the system that uses (burns) the gas.

Here's my picture of the green indicator

For some reason I couldn't get the picture to attach to the above reply.  Here it is.

Sure test:  If the stove won

Sure test:  If the stove won't light, the tank is empty.
