2023 Honda Ridgeline and Ball Height

We will be picking up our 2023 Standard 16 in August 2023.  We are new to towing a camper so trying to get as ready as possible.  I know Scamp says the 2" ball height should be at 21" and that the Ridgeline ball mount receiver is at 19".  With that info I calculated that the bottom of the coupler on the scamp would be at 18 1/4" given the height of 2 3/4" for the 2" ball.  To hit the 21" top of ball as Scamp states it appears I need a 3/4" drop.  Are my calculations correct?  I can't locate a ball mount with a 3/4" drop.  Is a straight out ball mount ok, that would put the ball height at 21 3/4".  Thanks

Yes, that's ok

I have a Ridgeline and tow a 16 footer too... a straight hitch gets your ball about and inch high which is preferred more than low. Get any straight hitch, or minimal (less than an inch) drop. Mount the ball on it flipped over and you will end up 22 inches for the Ridgeline...

Hitch sag under load

It's hard to guess the amount of sag that you will get under load. I was low and added a 2"  lift ball to the mix.

Won't sag...

I have that same tow vehicle (TV) and trailer setup. It doesn't sag. Mine is the heavier Deluxe also... I was pleased when I picked up my Scamp this May 1st and discussed it with Scamp at the factory. This is a very good Scamp and TV combo. The 850 mile trip home was nice; do get the antisway bar; the weight distribution hitch IS NOT NEEDED.

What antisway bar do you have?

Reese...

I got what Scamp installed, it is a Reese... I have had Reese, Warn,  and Curt over the years. They are all about the same. There is not much to it but it is a nice function. It's just a bar with an adjustable braking clamp on it that dampens lateral movement. May 1st, when I picked up my new Scamp, was the same day the national news reported the dust storm that caused white out like blizzard conditions in Illinois that had a 50, 70 or larger car pile up on the middle of the state, on the interstate. Lots died if you heard about it. I was going thru Wisconsin and northern Illinois around Chicago heading home. I could feel the strong winds and could feel how the antisway bar dealt with the strongest wind. I was very glad to have it on. I have always had one on each of my past trailers in all my towing history. The winds can really affect a light weight trailer just as much as a big bulky one...
