Picking up 13ft deluxe scamp this Friday

Does anyone have recommendations for what to bring?  We have a solar generator and a Starlink.  Super excited....ordered during covid 2 years ago, and ready for pickup in MN this Friday!

It's a learning experience

They should give you a once over of the features of the RV. Pay close attention and take notes if needed. If you have RV experience, you have a head start. Inspect it closely, I found some things, but missed some also.  I camped at Itasca state park, the start of the Mississippi river, the first night to stay "in the area" if there were problems, there were not. Second night was boondocking at Six Mile lake, but your are going the other way.

One person CAN deploy the awning. Know how to run the air conditioner before you stop for the night (I put little black marks on the knobs to get the same setting each time). It may come with the LP CO detector fuse removed, have them install it. And be sure to get a picture of the new SCAMP under the “SCAMP on a STICK”.

Don't miss the service department

Be sure to stop in the parts and service department.  They have a lot of Scamp accessories and other items.

I'm picking ours up in

I'm picking ours up in September and am excited!  I figure that I'll stay at the nearby commercial campground for a night or two to shake things down and then maybe head back to NC via the UP of Michigan and back down through Ohio.

Not sure what your interests are but;

I just returned from Michigan / Indiana. Copper harbor MI was great. I toured two copper mines and camped at Fort Wilkins state park. South end of the Mackinac Bridge has a good lighthouse tour and northern Indiana had 4 museums that I liked. "RV/MH" is in Elkhart, “Auburn Cord Duesenberg”, “National Truck & Auto” and the “Ford V8” museums are all in Auburn, Indiana. STAY OUT OF DOWNTOWN INDIANAPOLIS, THE INTERSTATE IS CLOSED! Scamps are great, I never could have made that “U” turn with my Jayco 5th wheel. Also, the Herbster campground in Wisconsin is cheap and on the shore of Lake Superior.

Sept/Oct factory trip from East Coast.

We made the trip about 10 years ago from Va. to Backus for an axle swap and returned through the UP. First go out on I 70 to Indy and head northwest going north west of Chicago . A little bit further but you miss the toll roads and Chicago. It's a much more relaxing drive. Next, 1 October is when the campgrounds up north near the factory and in the UP shut down or at least shut off the water so be prepared for no water and take an electric cube heater. We toured Mackinaw Island during shut down weekend. The horses are ferried off the island with the tourist. The good thing is the gift shops were closing and selling most everything for a big discount. West of Detroit in Dundee on the interstate there is a Cabela's that has a big free dry camping area with a pay dump site. Before Detroit there is a German tourist town of Frankenmuth Mi. Lots of German  restaurant's and gift shops. The commercial campgrounds near town are expensive but a Church in town had a very interesting but clean campground for about half the price of the commercial campgrounds.

Thanks for the tips!  I

Thanks for the tips!  I figured that either right after Labor Day or the beginning of October would see a lot of campgrounds shutting down.  I'm originally from MIchigan, but haven't been there in 35 years or so.

Well, I got an email from

Well, I got an email from Scamp, and our Scamp 13 is ready!  I'm picking it up on August 10, and staying at the local campground for a couple of nights just to shake it down.  I'll return to North Carolina via Michigan--I have reservations made at state parks for a week or so.  Can't wait!
