Scamp 13 a/c power requirements (amps)

I picked up my 2022 Scamp 13 a couple of weeks ago, and during the orientation I was told that the a/c will only operate if plugged into a 30 amp service.  I questioned then why is the a/c protected with a 20 amp breaker, and I could not be given an answer.  I was looking at the spec sheet for the a/c units and it appears the compressor has a rating of 13 amps and the motor about another 3 or 4...so that would total below 20 amps.  So, have any of you run the a/c on 20 amp power (assuming no other electrical devices are being used)?  I have a 20 amp outlet on my garage, but it hasn't been warm enough to test if it will run the a/c.  I think the worst that could happen is that it would trip the breaker inside my garage.

I have run an RV air

I have run an RV air conditioner on a 20 amp circuit and not blown a circuit  breaker. Thirty Amps is required so you can run more than the ac at any one time.

power

Once the AC  is running may only draw 10-12 amps but the start current is much higher.  .  And Once operating and cooling it will even operate on a 15 amp  circuit.  . Maybe the person was referring to the 30 amp plug/service and cord  and not specifically the AC load

That's what I thought

Scamp leads us to believe that it absolutely must be plugged in to a 30 amp electrical box, when it would be more accurate to say a 20 amp service is adequate...provided no other electrical devices are being used.  I think they are being overly cautious in telling us what we can and cannot do.

No long extension cord.  The

No long extension cord.  The voltage drop will damage the compressor.

The lable on my 2016

I had no trouble test running mine on  2200 Honda BEFORE I installed the Easy start. I have had no long runs on hot days but it has run fine in the test runs. I think Scamp is just preventing phone calls from people that try to run the A/C, watch TV and microwave dinner all at the same time.
