Garage door 7' high

Trying to think of a way to fit a 7' 6" Scamp under a 7' high garage door. Anyone try taking the wheels off and rolling it in on the brake drums ? or use wheel dollies under the brake drums then roll it in. One other thought is to use an old pair of rims with no tires on them.

Lowering a Scamp For Garage Storage

I once saw a guy that put small ( I think Golf Cart ) tires and wheels on his scamp in order to lower it enough to clear his garage door.

One note regarding the garage door: sometimes, the door opener does not pull the garage door open far enough to maximize the height of the garage opening i.e.: a couple of inches of the bottom of the garage stick down into the opening thereby reducing the height of your garage opening. You need to ensure that your door completely clears the opening.

As Always,

Happy Scamping !!!

Other issues to consider

Couple other things to consider as I just finished going through all this same measuring and figuring out how to get a Scamp in my garage.

First, if your driveway has some slant to it, you will need to figure that in. Put on small tires or something with less clearance and you would scrape. You don't have much clearance with a 13 scamp as it is, with that water discharge chute in the rear end.

Second, as noted above - the garage height isn't the only thing to look at. My garage door, i.e. the cutout size itself going into my garage is 8" - but with the door when up sits about two inches below that, still that gave me 7'10" to work with and plenty of space.....unless you get A/C at which point I think your scamp will be about 7'10".

Finally, also look at your garage door opener. Mine hangs down to where the bottom of it is a bit lower than the door when it is open. It sits in the middle of a 2 car garage so I could still get the Scamp in since the roof of the scamp gently slopes down from the center.

I was lucky, in addition to this two car garage I have a single side facing garage that is for an economy car. In my case, on this one, same about 8" door height, but the door goes up above the top lip of that when it's open and the garage opener is higher so I have the full 8" of clearance. No way I could have backed the scamp up and turned hard enough to get into that garage, but I just backed it up close and then bought one of those hand trailer dollys with the ball on it, with that it was a piece of cake to wheel it in manually.

Garage Storage

We store our 13 foot (NO AIR CONDITIONER) in the garage with a 7 foot door.  I have to make sure the garage door is all the way up by pulling the emergency release on the opener and blocking the door up.  I have a set of small diameter golf cart wheels that fit and if we (wife watching) are careful it will roll in with about an inch of clearance.  Be careful to keep the tongue high to lower the fantastic fan until clear and then you can lower the tongue.  Our entry to the garage is fairly level with just a little slope to keep water out.

Good Luck

During the last century, the

During the last century, the size of the garage was about the same, regardless of which car was hiding behind its gate. It seems that carmakers will constantly increase and decrease the size of the body to infinity, thereby demonstrating their vision of "automotive" fashion. I needed a standard height for my garage door, which is 7 feet (2.1 m). To that end, we ordered a gate from this website https://everlastgates.com/, measuring the opening according to the suggested instructions. The guys came and installed the gate in one day, and so far, I am pleased with the quality of work.
