Easy-Up instead of awning Question

We have ordered a new 13' Scamp (larger bed and bath) and will pick up June 2021. The awning is out of our price range and are thinking we'll use an Easy-up canopy instead. (for $65 instead of $1200). Curious if that has worked well for people? Any issues?

Thanks for your guidance,
Robin and Joe

E-Z Up

We have the awning and have had two E-Z ups so far. Both the awning and E-Z Up are great. We often set up the E-Z Up over a picnic table but they allow you to put your shade shelter anywhere you like. The heavy vinyl fabric on the awning is much more durable than the nylon fabric on the E-Z Up. It all depends on use but if you camp a lot, you can plan on replacing the E-Z up every couple years due to sun rot.

EZ UP clear door?

Thanks for those suggestions. I'm wondering if an EZ up will clear the Scamp doorway if it's placed up close to the camper? Just curious.

Door Clearance

Since we've always had an awning attached to our trailers (we used to have the Scamp 16' and now have a 19') I've never tried the E-Z Up over the Scamp door. Our Scamp is stored for winter so I can't try it now. Our newer trailer has the 3" axle lift and bigger tires so I would guess it would be too tall for the E-Z Up. I don't believe the 13 is as tall. I'm not sure if it was here or another forum but I I read something where someone had adjusted the height of the E-Z Up legs with pvc pipe. That might be an inexpensive option for you.

After posting this I found it... Here is a pvc idea. I think that's a Coleman canopy but similar to the E-Z up.

EZ up - Clam Shelter

I'd highly recommend you look at the clam shelter over the EZ up. Much simpler setup and takedown and are completely screened for bugs and can be enclosed for cold weather use with a propane firepit running inside.

Agree, go with a Clam

We picked one up in July. Haven't been camping with it yet, but used it a couple of times in the backyard. They really DO set up in less than 2 minutes, like their website and videos show.

Replacing interior surface tape

Just took my 1985 16 ft on a camp[ng trip through N. Fla with my son and 2 dogs. This was our maiden trip so we are going to need lots of help over the next few years fixing up the scamp. First I need to replace all the tape that covers the seams of the interior, where and what do I clean the adheasive off with? We had a great trip and the Honda element pulled it just fine,

In place of an awning

I ordered the Clam Traveler 6 by 6 from Amazon and the Caddis rapid pop canopy from REI. One is twenty pounds and the other is 29 pounds. I can set them up by myself if necessary.

Clam Traveler

I have a 6 sided Clam and have no issues setting it up by myself. I just bought a 4 sided Traveler from Camping World and tried to set it up in the showroom. The traveler being lighter tended to slide around when I tried to pop the panels in place. I plan to stake the base of one side corner down first to keep me from chasing the tent around during set up.
