I'm wiring up my Outback from the flat four to 7-round plug. I'm using the etrailer kit. I've run the wire from the battery. However before I actually connect things I compared the plug charts from Scamp and etrailer and they seem different. I would have assumed both were using a standard configuration. I'm confused. Help would be appreciated! Thanks

OK. I'll leave this for now in case it helps others. I was able to get hold of etrailer. He says this diagram is of the wires entering the back of the receptacle (that you can't see on the part they send because it's already wired and booted). It is therefore a mirror image of what Scamp provides looking into the receptacle.
The color not always.
Thanks. I saw this on another thread and found it quite helpful.
Scamp and other older trailer mfg. use the Bargman wiring code for running lights and brakes. If you buy a molded 7 pin plug and pigtail it will be wired with the Bargman wiring code. The etrailer wiring colors go with the 4 pin plug wiring code used on utility trailers. Most RV's use 12V black hot, white ground and utility and cargo trailers use red hot and black ground for house lights.

As newbie to trailers, I have learned a lot from all of you and continue to do so.
Thanks! Tom
