44" versus 54" Beds in a 13' Scamp

Planning to buy a Scamp 13'. I've heard that their are two bed sizes, 44" and 54". I am 6' and my wife 5'5", both regular build.

Any opinions? Would we feel cramped in the 44"?

Big Bed

Full size bedding is 54". You loose a little storage space but you spend most of your time in the trailer sleeping. Just add some upper cabinets if you need more storage space. I think your resale value will also be more.

It is only 54" wide on one end if I recall correctly.

We have the new 54" bed and

We have the new 54" bed and we like it.

It is 54" on both ends. The cabinet/closet that was previously 22" wide becomes a "pantry" that is 12" wide and you lose one of the 3 doors that was typically above the sink & stove. When the bed/table is in bed mode, you lose a little walking-around floor space. When the table is up (they use a 32" table plus a 20" "filler" board to support the bed), the trailer feels more "open" and less cramped.

As previously mentioned, get all of the cabinets that you can. We also omitted the furnace which gave us a larger door under the sink for storage.

We have a Layout 1 with the sofa/bunk-beds.

I posted some pictures of the interior near the middle of the following thread on fiberglassrv.com:

Good luck with your decision!  smiley
