I know, I should have tested all of this before we hit the road. Tonight I decided to get the hot water tank going. I've got the Robertshaw control. We turned on the gas, turned the control to pilot, pressed the red button, held a butane lighter to the gas port. Nothing. Tried several times, no luck. Then I noticed this copper gas line. It looks crimped. That's not right, is it?

No hot water
Never mind! Looked again and there are two gas lines, one copper and one silver. Not sure why it didn't light the first time but now it's lit.

That tiny Copper line is actually the Thermocoule tube that keeps the gas valve open once up to temp. It can handle some minor denting as there is an insulated tiny wire inside it . A common issue is the 3/8 nut that retains it into the gas valve can get loose or scruffy. Causing the flame to go out . Usualy a re snugging of the nut fixes it. It is all fragile and delicate so easy does it.
