Switching to dual tanks

I'd like to switch from a single to dual tanks on our 13 footer. We would like to try putting our bike rack and two bikes on the back of the camper and my thought is to equalize the weight front and back as much as possible. Adding another tank wil increase the weight in the front of the camper by about 40 lbs I believe. The new tow vehicle will have no issues with tongue weight. In looking at the Scamp site, the dual tank setup is $26.00 which is reasonable. What is unreasonable is the $31.00 they will charge me to ship it. There are a lot of these dual tank setups on Amazon and the shipping is free. Does anyone know of a dual setup on Amazon that I can use on our Scamp? The one I am looking at on Amazon is the Flame King KT 20 MNT dual tank holder. Thanks. Anthony

Dual Tank conversion

Well, I think I have answered my own question. Amazon, the Marshall Excelsior ME-RVtank kit 18 appears to be identical to the unit sold by Scamp. Cost on Amazon with free shipping is $28.21. Now that's better!

The kit you mentioned will

The kit you mentioned will work. You just need some sheet metal screw to hold it down to the frame. You have two options once you add the second tank. First and easiest is to simply move the hose connector from one tank to the other as needed, which requires no additional propane hose or new regulator. Second option is to buy a two stage automatic switchover so both tanks can be connected at the same time, and you can allow the regulator to switch over when empty (might come in handy during cold weather camping when the tank runs empty at 3 in the morning and the furnace quits). I have the automatic switchover but prefer to manually switch to the other tank myself, that way I know for sure when the other tank is empty and don't have to rely on seeing the tiny indicator on the regulator.

dual tank

Thanks for that information. For now, I am going to leave on the single hose connector and move it from one tank to the other. That way I will know definitively when one tank is empty. My thoughts are that having to get up at 3:00 am  to switch over the tanks is still better than running out of propane without a second tank to switch to. I can add the dual regulator at a later date if I feel I want it.
