I moved the toilet out as i figured it was such a small space for a big smell and then moved the battery inside my new utility storage room. Then welded in the new frame for the lowpro lockdown , then welded in the 2 forklift propane mounts.

Very nice! Can you travel with the generator on that mount? We have the front bunk model for the same reason. We don't use a generator but I purchased a 50 watt solor panel and controller and hook that up in the morning and if the sun is out, we are fully charged in 2 or 3 hours.

Have you been out with this set up yet?? Batteries need to be vented and Most LP tanks need to be vertical. You are going to have problems.
I am brand new to this site but not new to building . Thank you for your concerns so please tell me where a dry cell battery needs to be vented? I use Odessey Batteries and you may want to rethink what your saying
propane tanks need to be vertical for filling as they are in my forklifts and the only difference is a hard mounted horizontal propane tank for campers has the fill neck toward the top for filling and bleed off. This is easily removable for filling and interchange. So please show me where i may have a bad idea
the low pro lockdown is the only generator lock mount that i can find sold over the counter thats a great design. It works great and easy to take the generator off when on locked?
We are going on a 7 day trip next week and we just finished our remodel of this unit which seems to rock. My only concern is the frame when i saw how one broke in half on youtube and then look underneath to see something not as strong as one my like. But here we go

You said that you moved the battery, not that you installed a dry cell. A tank not made for horizontal use is going to dump liquid into the lines not gas if you get any thing. I claim estoppel, enjoy the trip.
Ill get a horizontal tank

Hi Gene and welcome to the clubhouse.
This is a mod that we've seen several people do in the past with different approaches. I think what is causing some confusion is we didn't really have all the information on the batteries used and the propane tank. I like the Gen rack you put on, and with all tongue mount generators you just have to be sure you don't exceed the tongue weight limitations of the tow vehicle.
AGM batteries, which is what Odyssey produces are fine for a cabin installation. Most sources still do recommend they be put in a sealed vented battery box but not a requirement. The AGM batteries may still enter an off-gassing mode when they are subject to an equalization charge or excessive charging which is why it is a recommended practice, but you have the correct AGM batteries for internal use.
I'm not sure on the propane tank from the picture, but to make sure there isn't any confusion, a standard 20 lb propane tank is not supposed to be mounted horizontally due to the valve construction and how it works. This can be a safety issue as well as a functional issue. There are horizontal propane tanks that are produced for this specific application. If this is the standard tank (I.E. bbq tank that Scamp uses) then it is incorrectly mounted. Here is a sample of a 20 lb propane tank that is certified for horizontal mounting. https://amzn.to/2Pkno9S
I really like the whole idea of what you have done with the generator mount. my only concern is the propane tank. It looks from the picture that you still have a bit of room in front of the gen stand that you could mount the propane tank in a vertical orientation, but the picture could be deceiving.
Nice work!

I would suggest going to Utube and search for the video HAZMAT HIGHWAY TO HELL WITH HIGH PRESSURE GAS CYLINDERS. This may give you an idea of why cylinders are mounted vertically. When a cylinder blows in an accident it is aimed at the ground. I believe if you go to NFPA, National Fire Protection Agency, and did some homework, I think you may find they are required to be mounted vertically.

There is such a thing as 20 lb horizontal tank. My In-laws Trail Manor had two mounted from the manufacture to clear the bed when assembled. . They were more expensive and Seemed odd but worked well.

What is the smallest generator made? just looking for something to top off battery so we can have heat at night. Have switched Scamp lights to LED and we have a lantern led we use for light but after three days boon docking the battery has to be getting low.
Have Scamp will travel !
