2023 Scamp 13 Standard Differences from 2022

We just picked up our 2023 Scamp 13 Standard (Layout 2) this week in Backus and were surprised to learn during our walk-through of some before unknown (to us) changes to the 2023 model. Here is some info and photos for those interested.

  1. A short drawer has been added in front of the sink. It's 7.25"W x 7.75"D x 1.4"H. The short height is due to the presence of the sink. The electrical items previously in this spot have been moved to the RH forward face of the dinette area.
  2. A third switch has been added on the switch panel located on the LH side when entering the Scamp. It's a master switch for all of the LED lights in the trailer. It's a quick way to cut the lights when leaving the Scamp without having to switch each light off manually.
  3. A third rear overhead cabinet has been added in the center section. Additionally, all three rear cabinets are now mounted as a single integrated unit.
  4. The black water tank has been reduced in size from 9 gallons to 7 gallons. It was disappointing to learn this during the walk-through as the 2023 model is listed as having the 9 gal tank.

Similar to the 2022 model, the 2023 is equipped with a Dometic CRX-65 2.0 cu ft compressor fridge and a Girard GSWH-2 On-Demand hot water heater. They both work fabulously.

Also, the converter/charger unit is now a 45 amp rather than 30 amp model (Progressive Dynamics PD9245) and the Suburban furance is the 20K BTU unit rather than the 16K BTU. I don't know if the 16K model (NT-16SE) mounted squarely into the cabinet, but the 20K model (NT-20SE) does not due to interference with the wheel well. It looks misaligned but is mounted securely.

Tow Vehicle

I just noticed in your profile that you'll be towing with a 2023 Ford Edge! We're towing with a 2015 Edge SEL (2.0L) and it pulls great. Gas mileage dropped from 24 to about 17 MPG and the load is definitely noticeable, but acceleration and braking were just fine (no electric brakes), and the trailer tracked behind us very well, even with 25 mph crosswinds for awhile.

I hope you enjoy your Scamp and Edge too. I 've read that 2023 is the end of the run for that Ford model, sigh.
