Traveling with Bunks setup? Or only in Couch mode?

I just wanted to see if i could get a few responses here.  I know that Scamp's official stance is you are supposed to have the bunks down and in couch mode when traveling.  I get that.  But it's kinda a hassle and with 2 kids i'll never use the Scamp in couch mode.

Does anyone travel with the bunks setup?  Is it safe?  Any issues?  I would love any/all advice on this, i'm fine doing couch mode if i have to, but if i don't i would love that.

Couch Mode

You would need to make the two support rods more secure. Figure out a way to attach them at the top and bottom. Then you should be fine traveling in the bunk position.

great thanks.  i made a "bunk

great thanks.  i made a "bunk rail" for my kids.  1" PVC pipe goes up from each support rod, then to an elbow, and then a cross bar connects them.  it holds the rails securely (it covers the entire portion down to the L piece that connects to the bunk).  i did a test drive to the title bureau yesterday and it seemed fine.

maybe i will look to find something that secures the screws under the bunks to the support rods permanently, that would probably do it.
