We are finalizing our order for a new 13 with front bath and big bed. Have any of you added lighting to the area inside the door, to illuminate the door lock as well as the closet next to the bath? We toured one of these Scamps last summer, and without any front window the area just inside seemed dark. Our tour was during the day, and I can’t remember where the nearest light is or if there is a switch...? Thanks for your feedback!

I agree that the area near the door is kind of dark. We have a !3 with no bath. It would be fairly easy to add a light or two on that side. You can order an outside light by the door from Scamp to help you find the key hole. We have found that leaving the outside light on tends to attract a lot of bugs so we just use it while going in or out.
Hi Vince,
We owned our 98 Scamp 16 layout 6 for over 10 years and for the past two years we've lived in it for 6 months of the year volunteering as campground hosts. Needless to say, our Scamp has had a lot of use. We just sold our 16' and have upgraded to a 19' deluxe which came with more lights. I believe our 16 would have had the same entrance area as your 13 with front bath and clothes closet. Based on our experience with the 16, I think it would be nice to have a light fixture mounted near the inside of the door. It would be helpful for seeing better while locking the door from the inside and also looking through the clothes closet. Our lock was the older pin in a tiny hole that was always hard to line up by feel. To get around it we kept a small LED flashlight hanging on the inside the cabinet for this purpose. We also added small battery LED puck lights for extra lighting options.
The outside porch light is also handy for safely unlocking and entering the trailer after dark. It's in easy reach of your left hand to turn off once you get fully inside and turn around.

Thank you both for your input. We have asked for a light high on the cabinet to the left as one walks into the Scamp.
