Hello Scampers,
I am about to order a new 13' scamp with bathroom. I am disappointed that it will not be ready until September. I live in Massachusetts, if anyone has a 13' they want to sell please contact me ASAP. I will be holding off on ordering just for a few days to see if any sellers out there.
Finally, I would like to hear from you all what are the 1 or 2 options that you feel are the most important that you cannot live without on this model. Please send me your reasoning as to why its so important.
I am excited to join this elite group! Thank you
Kirsten
This trailer has been for sale in Lakeland FL. for several weeks. Come on down and camp in the sunshine. Our lows are in the 50's. https://lakeland.craigslist.org/rvs/d/auburndale-2015-scamp-13/678498571...
Not connected to the sell or know anything about the trailer.

Kristen,
You might want to place your order with Scamp while you continue your search for a used trailer. Scamp only requires a $500 deposit to secure your spot in their production schedule.
Their policy, for MANY years, has been to give a full refund if you cancel your order prior to your trailer actually starting production. They give you a call several weeks prior to that date to confirm you still want the trailer and to give you a chance to add/delete options. They are really easy folks to work with, not out to force you into a situation you do not want to be in.
Thank you LyleB for the advice!!! I will look into this. I appreciate your time. :)

Hello everyone,
I would like to know how the new awning for the 2019 13' scamp is working out for people? From what I have found it seems it doesn't do so well in the rain? Is there other options or better ones out there? I prefer to have an awning that works both rain and sun. Please advise thank ou!
Kirsten
I believe all the manufacturers have a statement in their manuals about awnings not being recommended for rain. The two biggest problems with rain are "pooling" where the weight of the water collects between the camper and outer edge of awning, with the weight of the water getting greater until something breaks. This can usually be mitigated by keeping one end of the awning much lower than the other end, so that the rain runs off one of the corners.
The other big problem with rain is that it sometimes comes along with storms, and if the rain doesn't hurt your awning, the sudden gusts of wind might. I have seen brand new trailers have their awnings flipped over the camper due to unexpected wind (last one was on a $50,000 Oliver during a dry day with a strong wind gust). Extra tie-downs can help to some extent.
Many people use a free standing shelter instead of an awning, since they are usually much cheaper to replace if damaged.
I do love having an awning, but actually deploy it less than half of my camping trips. I might use it more if I had the newer style, but I have the old Catalina on our Scamp, which is pretty much a manual roll-up type awning without a crank or winding mechanism. If winds come up unexpectedly it can be really hard and unsafe to try to roll up the old style awnings since you might be fighting a giant kite.
Another odd thing about Scamps and Casitas is that the awning isn't flush with the side of the camper. The 1" gap allows water to run down the side of the camper, until it gets to the belly band, and then it splashes out. There are ways to mitigate this (pool noodles stuffed in the gap, home made gutters, etc)

Very useful comments, JDHaggerty. I've been thinking about an awning, for when I have to set up in places where there's no shade and I don't want to be stuck inside. But I've also thought about how nice it would be not to have to stand outside in the rain while taking my umbrella down before going inside. Clearly one can't really rely on any awning for this purpose. Good to know.
When we ordered our 13', we didn't order a awning. I have owned wo well used Scamps in the past that have had damaged unusable awnings. Last year, we bought and installed a Rhino-Rack Sunseeker on out 13'. We later ordered Rhino-Rack Meshroom for it, so now we have shade and bug protection. The cost of those two products was about 1/2 of the cost of a awning from Scamp.

Would be great if you can post some pictures .
thanks

Taos,
Go to U Tube and enter Rhino-Rack Sunseeker Awning. They are available from Etrailer. A photo from me doesn't begin to equal a U Tube video.

Hi Bob,
Did you get one of these? Everything I can see about these says they're meant to be mounted to a vehicle roof rack.
