I just got my new Layout 4

I just got my new Layout 4 recently. Laying on the couch, as a couch is quite cramped, side to side. If you set up the bunks, the bottom is adequate side to side, but pretty tight for an adult to crawl into. The top bunk would be wide enough too, but it has a 150 lb max weight recommendation.

This afternoon, I removed the bottom cushions, then removed the 8 screws holding the back to the hinge. Laying the back of the couch down flat results in a bed that is pretty much 30 inches wide, a bit narrower at each end. Very comfortable for me. It will be my full-time bed, I plan to keep the dinette set up as a table. With the addition of one of those back rest pillows they sell all over, you can still sit on the couch/bed to read and stretch out.

Thank you. I really like the

Thank you. I really like the layout 4. And I prefer to sit on couch but if a friend came alone I needed a extra bed . I was hoping the couch would work as a bed. Thx

Dinette full time

If you leave the rear dinette up full time, don't forget to lower it for road travel.  Otherwise expect the mount to fail sooner or later.

Yep. Simple enough to lower

Yep. Simple enough to lower the table for travel. Switching from my old, 1999 Scamp to the new one, I am pleasantly surprised how much more stable the new table is.

I assume the old one just loosened up with folks leaning and pushing on it, and/or folks traveling with it in the up position. All the hardware seemed securely attached, just a bit wobbly. Possibly the tabs or slots became bent over time.

I sleep on the couch

I sleep on the couch in my 13'--I leave the backrest in place.  I am 5'8" and 130 lbs, and it is a cozy bed size for me.  If you have a friend along camping, you can always give them the "big" bed if the couch is too small for them.  I have a ton of throw pillows in my Scamp, and I build a really comfy lounge area out of them for reading on the couch too.
