Where on a 13' can I store a litter box?

I'm trying to decide between a 13' and a 16' Scamp. I'll be traveling with my dog and my 2 cats. I haven't seen a Scamp yet. Where is there a place to put a covered litterbox? Not sure a 13 will work with a litter box and a bed for the dog (mid-sized dog). Thanks folks!

Welcome

Glad to have you in the clubhouse. We're not pet people ourselves and the kids are potty trained, wink but I'm sure the cat folks will jump in with some solutions for you shortly. In the 13 the only areas that come to mind are the compartment under the front bunks, but that is normally where a porta potty is stored or under the rear bed if it's left in permanent bed.

Kitty privacy

How fun that the cats get to go too--are they good travelers?  I saw a couple walking what I thought were three dogs at a rest area, but it turned out the third dog was a cat.  It went along with the walking to a certain extent, and then it remembered it was a cat!  They were camping with it though.

I would shoot for a 16' if you have an adequate tow vehicle.  A 13' is really tiny, try to go see one first.  The little door under the couch/bunk bed is probably too low and the space too small for cats to use.  If it is just you and the critters, you could put the litter box under the dinette and sleep on the couch.  With a 16' you have options, especially with a bath.  You could cut a cat door in the bathroom door and they would have perfect cat privacy.  And your dog would be thwarted from perusing any litter box contents, because you know, dogs are dogs!  Have fun Egg shopping!

Thanks for the input! I haven

Thanks for the input! I haven't seen any Scamps yet but I'm hoping to at a rally next week. I don't know if my cats are good travelers - they've never traveled but they're not going to have much choice! I will be buying a new (or used) vehicle to tow the trailer. My current Honda CRV doesn't tow enough. I guess I really need to look at some Scamps. As it is I can't decide on the model (for 16' ones) - so many advantages and disadvantages to different models.

Tow vehicle

Well, actually your Honda will tow a 13 footer. I've seen several Honda's towing them. I know the tow rating is 1500 lbs. but that is conservative. I'm picking up a 13 footer at the factory in July and will be towing it with a Subaru Forester, also with a 1500 lb tow rating. If you are not satisfied with the towing ability of your Honda, you can trade up to a larger vehicle. If you like your CRV, give it a try. If you decide on a 16 footer, definitely get a larger tow vehicle. Good luck.

Love my Cats!

Supercorgi, I will be traveling with my cats (2 beauties - Sassy and Tway) in a 13 footer and I will be putting the litter box under the dinette by day and by the bunk beds by night. I only intend on traveling with the girls when I am by myself. I talked with Nick, my salesman, and there was no place to hide the litter box but I am still in hopes that when the gentleman calls (the famous call when it's time for my trailer to start being created) he might be able to add a door to the end of the dinette seating. I'm hoping that with me getting the "big bed" version there might be room with the extra 10 inches to have an additional opening that could handle the tiniest litter box in the world!

If I could tow a 16 footer, I would get the one with the dinette on the side and the bathroom up front and I would use the shower for the litter box. I don't have the ability to tow that size Scamp so that is why you hear me plotting for how I will situate their litter box.

BTW, it's been a hoot breaking my girls into getting used to wearing halters -- I'm taking baby steps to get them prepared for the trailer!

Hoping your adventures are wonderful,
Sue
