Want to swap out icebox for fridge

I found out that the original owner of my 1998 13' Scamp didn't consider a 3-way 1.9 cu ft fridge a necessity after I brought the camper home. New 3-ways are around $500 and another approximately $500 to install whether I go directly to the factory or not. Does anyone have a source for a good used 3-way?

I'm going to withdraw this question because I've been networking with other campers in my area to see if there are used units available from older campers.

I do want to say how much I'm enjoying reading the comments/questions from other owners. I've done some copy/print of suggestions for my owner's manual that we can consider when we pull the camper out of winter storage. I'm fortunate to live within hours driving distance of the Scamp factory. If and when I find a fridge and water heater, I can have the Scamp guys make the necessary modificaiton.

Be Careful

Be careful of a used frig because just because it runs, it doesn't mean that it will properly cool so you'll want to be able to thoroughly check it out unless it is free.  The 3-way are expensive but we are glad to have the little one in our current pop-up since ice is really expensive if you are out for a few days or more not to mention messy.  Hope you find the things you need.  Enjoy!

Reality check!

After a lot of searching for used 3-ways and talking with the Scamp factory, I realize that used isn't the way to go and I'm not sure that the factorywould even install it for me. So I'm looking for other solutions which could include trading off the cute 13' and getting a 16' that would have more storage for musical instruments that need TLC.

Thanks, everyone, for the input.

We love our 16, with lots of

We love our 16, with lots of storage, bathroom/shower, side dinette, and a good sized bed. The 3-way fridge is primarily used on AC power. Hope you find as good a 16 as we found!

check amazon.com

I am doing the same this winter.  I got a new RM2193 RV refrigerator from amazon.com, with free delivery (if you have amazon prime, worth the $99 for this pruchase alone if you don't). I'm having is installed at Camping World.  they install anything for $59.00 and you do not have to buy the appliance thru them (it was $800 for them to order the same fridge).  I'll let you know how it comes out once I get it scheduled.

Fridge swap out

Good job! Anxious to see how it comes out. Ours came with a fridge, a rather new Scamp.
