Hello to all. I have recently acquired a 1999 13 foot Scamp. quite a neat little unit. BUT, while it has a sink it does not have a stove top. I have a one burner portable propane unit-it uses the hairspray sized cans-but I am hesitant to use it. Was the unit ever intended for a stove top? is there anything I need to do in terms of safety? I don't have any issue with using it outside but I remember using these units in pop up type campers so just got to wondering. the previous owner had added an internal water tank and pump so cooking is about all left to do. Unless a hot water heater is in my future.....Thanks folks. Philip

two burner stove top
I have never heard of one without a two burner stove top. What is next to the sink? That's where it usually is.
Send a message to Greg A and ask him why he removed the stove from his first Scamp.

To respond to your question re using a portable stovetop inside: I do not foresee a problem...as long as you have no propane leaking at the connection(s).
Having just hooked up the lines from a (larger, front-mounted) exterior tank, I am aware that there are several connections en route between the tank and stovetop.
Connections are the points where propane can leak. I think the issue is the same...whether the propane gas is flowing through several feet of line or from an adjacent propane bottle. (Note: Being portable, your connections may be more prone to come/work loose, than with fixed lines.)

I have decided to use an electric skillet inside whenever possible instead of a gas cook top. I know lots of folks don't like cooking inside the rig but in Texas in the summer sometimes going out side about dinner time just means YOU are dinner! We do have major mosquitos here. When cool or cold I don't mind, but the ease of tossing some ready made taco meat or slices of meat loaf in a skillet for a fine sandwich requires someway to cook indoor, especially when stopping at a rest area where I have the option of running the genset for a few minutes. . the change over to a 13' Scamp from a 28 foot double slide motor home had been challenging. I will report in after next week's trip up to Arkansas and back on the success of the skillet option.
