towing a Scamp 19 with a 2019 Toyota Tacoma

Greetings,

We are wondering if a Scamp 19 can be/is being towed by a Toyota Tacoma in this group? and if so what did you have to do with the composite bed/hitch to make it work? does it tow easily? is it a bad idea? any suggestions are welcome, we had 2 Scamps a 13 and 16, bought a Casita that we mostly don't like and want a Scamp 19...

thanks for your ideas

Tacoma

I towed a 19 with a 2007 Tacoma. As long as you tie into the frame with the ball mount you will not harm the composite bed. My 19 was a deluxe which added additional tongue weight. The leaf springs of the Tacoma are soft and I had to add spring helpers to keep the truck from sagging. You will need the V6 engine.

Good luck looking. My wife loved the 19 more than the 16' Scamp we have now.

Here is how I have done it:

Here is how I have done it: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f72/scamp-5er-hitch-mod-w-photo-link-...

and here is a similar version done more recently by Ron: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f62/scamp-19-5th-wheel-87854.html

I have been towing this way for six years, put 60k miles on the Scamp. No problems.

UPDATE

SO we went to Michigan and after lots of help from the seller the hitch was installed in our 2019 Tacoma and we towed our Scamp 19 home to NH without problems, very stable...
