The fine marketing people at Toyota says it can tow 3500 lbs.  I emailed Toyota to ask about a few details on how to add a brake controller and 12 VDC aux line. This is the response.  Take it for what it's worth.  I will strongly consider not buying Toyota in the future and there is NO WAY I will every buy another Toyota with the intent of towing UNLESS it has all Toyota Tow equipment including hitch, wiring and brake controller.
