Sink Leaking

We got our Scamp13' in April and were finally able to use it over the weekend - it was great!  Except, there seems to be a leak in the sink.   No leaks when with the stopper/plug -- but when water runs down the drain, I see some small drops of water on the hose that runs from sink under heater to grey tank.   Not fast running water but enough to get things wet in that cupboard.     We've tried calling Scamp with questions but no returned calls yet.      We aren't that handy but wondering if we could take out the heater and see if something just needs to be tightened where sink meets hose?  Or do we just find a RV place to fix?

Any suggestions appreciated!

Warranty

Is this a brand new 13? If so, you should be able to get that repaired locally under warranty.

If you want to do it yourself you'll need to run water and track to the source of the leak and do the necessary repair based on what you find is the cause. You might just need to tighten a clamp or a hose could be split, won't know till you find out the cause.

Leak

You can get at the upper parts of the sink drain by removing the silverware drawer. There are two screws, one on each side of the drawer that hold the drawer in. Unscrew the two screws from inside the drawer until they clear the sides of the cabinet to get the drawer out. This will give you a start to see where the leak is and a lot easier than taking the furnace out. As Greg A says it could be just a loose clamp.

Found it -

Thank you for the advice - I removed the silverware drawer and can see the sink plumbing!    Think I've found the link; I believe the sink trap is cracked. Since Scamp hasn't returned any of our calls, I guess we'll either try to repair it ourselves or just take it somewhere to get it fixed.  Now, just need to consider how much time it would cost us to try this ourselves as amateurs!

This forum is great -- very helpful as we were buying the scamp and now outfitting it and looking into repairs!

Leak Source

Ok, you've done the difficult part, finding the problem.

That is a very simple repair if you've ever done a kitchen sink, but if not it can be challenging. It is really a warranty repair and you will need Scamp Trailers authorization to take it to a shop to get repaired. They usually pick up the phone M-F so I would stay after them and really hammer whomever picks it up before they try and transfer you, because sometimes the transfer goes dead or doesn't get picked up.

It will probably take more time checking it into the repair shop than it will for this repair.

Keep us posted.

Trap

Sink Trap

A little plumbers putty and R&R a hose clamp. If its the same type you can just swap the bowl if that is what is cracked.
