My Scamp 16 I bought new a few months ago came with a 12 volt battery. Can someone tell me the rated capacity of this battery in ampere-hours? The info on the battery case says "Northern 24EV".

That would be most likely a group 24 battery which would have about 80/85 amp hours. Group 24 would be a very light battery for a 16 if you are going to be boondocking at all. I run a minimum of Marine Group 27 on my Scamp 13's which translate to about 110/115 amp hours. There are other options as well to increase even more if desired.

Thank you Greg for the tip. Will consider upgrading to a higher ampere hour battery when it comes time to replace what we have. I carry a 2000 watt generator when I am scamping, so my Group 24 battery is not getting a good workout. So far so good.

We purchased our scamp 2nd hand, gorgeous condition and so well cared for. However, seller did tell me the battery was weak. So next spring we are purchasing a new battery. Not sure at this point which type to look for. Lots to ponder over the winter.
