Odd door hinges

I recently purchased a 16' Scamp side dinette with front bath. Not sure of the year but the PO said he thinks it is a '75. Checking serial numbers on the appliances I'm thinking probably early 70's. The only numbers stamped on the toungue is "1153" stamped near body on the side opposite the door, which according to Scamp they were sometimes marked there.

The door latch assembly was missing so a new one is being ordered.

My question is concerning the hinges.

Mine are flat steel not at all like the replacement ones offered from Scamp. The bolt pattern appears to be the same from the pics but I did not want to order the new ones and find they wont work. Check out the fine custom work on the door latch. Any imput would be welcome.

Anybody know if these hinges were factory? If not someone may have fabfricated these to get by.

16 Scamp

Welcome to the clubhouse!

Wow, you may have a piece of history.  I've got to get my Scamp History writeup out and check through it, but if I recall the first Scamps after buying the molds from Boler came out in 1972 and all they produced in the first years were 13's.  Not sure when the first 16 came off the line, but I will try and find the answer to that.

FYI, I just added a resource page for the Scamp VIN Decoder which you might be interested in.

Those definitely look to be something someone Jerry-rigged later in the trailers life and are not anything I've ever seen coming from the factory. However, given it could be an early production trailer anything goes. yes

You can see the imprint on the fur of the factory door handle/lock mechanism that was removed and replaced with the improvised handle. BTW, they did not introduce rat fur liners until the early 80's and up until that point they used what we refer to as Elephant Hide as liner material so the mystery deepens further.

We need lots of pics of this!!!
