Hello, gang! Just wanted to introduce myself, and say hello.
I had my first Scamp tour in about 2000 (it didn't take long, lol!) and it has been my dream to own one ever since. It didn't make sense financially or size wise at the time with 2 teenage boys, but life has moved on and we have recently come into a small inheritance, so decided to finally start seriously searching. Wouldn't you know it, the perfect little 13 popped up for sale on one of the fiberglass RV sites, and it was only 4 hours away! So, I made the call and spent quite some time on the phone with the owner, she sent lots more pics and we arranged to drive down the following weekend and look at it. We didn't have much doubt that we were going to buy it, but you never know for sure. We did take some camping gear so we could spend the night in it before we headed back home, just for a test run. Of course, we purchased after spending about an hour checking everything out and visiting with the previous owner. She had only had it for about a year, used it to live in last year while working at Glacier National Park. The owner that sold it to her had gutted it and redone the inside, or at least most of it. It had most of the features we were wanted for our style of camping so we made the decision and brought it home.
It is a 1978 Scamp 13 and it is adorable! I am in love and so is my hubby and the dog. Our first night went well other than the fact that we forgot the heater and we woke up to snow and 35 degrees inside! But we got to test out the brand new stove and see how things would work for sleeping. We are going to make some modifications, ie. adding a fridge (the icebox was removed and not replaced) and figure out a way to make the bed bigger. I am excited to shop for dishes and decor and get it set up for the summer.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and hope to be haunting the forums and getting ideas for modifications and figuring out how to post pics.
