New Faucet/Pump

Our '06 Scamp 16 came with a single faucet for city water and a hand pump for the on board tank.  A few years ago, I added a small 12v pump next to the water tank with a push-button switch next to the sink, running the water through the existing hand pump.  My thinking was that we wouldn't waste water if we had to hold the button to use it.  I didn't fully consider the inconvenience factor or that the hand pushing the button would usually be wet and often soapy.  For the record, there seems to be no such thing as a waterproof push-button switch.  Each time the switch needed a hastily grabbed knife from the silverware drawer to turn it off, I replaced it with a supposedly better protected one.  I finally gave up and modernized.

C is city water and H is house water on the $30 metal kitchen fixture from Home Depot.  A plastic version is available for $20.  The 8" center faucet uses a new 7/8" hole and the existing 2" pump hole with a small piece of plywood underneath.  A kitchen fixture with 6" center would fit existing holes but is only available in the $100 price range. The metal plate under the fixture is an aluminum door push, $8 at Lowe's, as suggested in a post by Greg.  Water is supplied by a SHURflo #4008, also based on Greg's suggestion.

There is room next to the tank but access is awkward and tight with the bench left in place, as evidenced by the needed clearance cut-out.  Ordering the recommended filter with the pump would have saved a trip to the RV store.  The pump's integral switch and bypass deliver even flow at any rate.  Besides that, my wife likes it.

I would say you do need a

I would say you do need a pressure switch that turns the pump on/off just like the standard Scamp 12V pump installation. The main switch is off when you donot want any water at all. When I wash the dishes, I allow just a tricle and the pump cycles on/off. Some people have installed an air cushion accumulator, but the elasticity of all that plastic tubing in the Scamp allows for reasonably slow cycling.
