New Curtains for the Scamp

I have two pet peeves with trailer curtains:

  1. They are usually see through lacy things that the sun beats your eyes open at 5am
  2. They are usually way too short, the sun and people peek through, and you wake up staring at some strangers eyeballs

We go somewhere like bed n bath and buy two packs of blackout curtain panels. This is definitely more than enough to do all Scamp 13 windows and material to make tie backs etc. Both ends of the panes have rod pockets so you can cut the panels in half and you now have two instead of one to work with. We use a glue gun to make our seams which cuts the time of making curtains by hours. The curtains we made in 06 on our 81 Scamp 13 with glued seams are still in service and have never separated.  No need to sew unless you just like to.

We found a really nice burgundy that matched the dots in our Scamp upholstery for the 96 13 Scamp:

Test hang

Next installment we'll finish up the front window and get some finished picks of the curtains with the new flooring.

Fuzzy Stuff

I suppose you could make the curtains long enough to put some velcro at the bottom to stick to the fuzzy walls for real privacy.

Thanks for the tutorial!

Finally found replacement curtains that fit

I finally found nice curtains that fit and after ordering and returning other curtains that I bought, but was disappointed with the look. Really nice material. I thought they would be too long for replacing the Scamp RV factory curtains which are only 20 inches long. These are 24 inches long and I thought I’d have to shorten them, but if you use the second and larger rod pocket, they only hang down about 22 inches and leaves a little ruffling at the top which is actually better for the RV. Scamp stopped making and using curtains in their new RVs and they don’t seem to have any leftovers of the curtains. They do allow light to get in, but with a little bunching of the material, they still allow privacy. Reasonably priced with a nice simple pattern. From Amazon, Shunjie.Home Kitchen Curtains 24 Inch Cafe Curtain Tiers Boho Linen Textured Short Curtains. Comes in several colors. I bought the tan and a set of light blue ones as well. Bought 5 sets of the 2 colors. There are two panels in each set, 26 inches wide each and 24 inches long. Since the back window is wider than the others, if I wanted more ruffling for more privacy, I could add a third panel to the back, so hence I ordered 5 sets. The remaining panel can be shortened to fit the door window on my 2018 Scamp 16.
