My wife and I (and 2 kids) decided on buying a camper. After a few months of discussion we have narrowed it to scamp 16, either layout 4 or 6.
My question is for a couple with 2 kids which is more spacious?
Layout 6- The side dinette seems like it would give more room to move around and the bathroom bigger is nice and more usable. But the kids would have to share a bed (unless a bunk modded over the table)
Layout 3-The front bunk beds seem like it would be nice for kids and give them their own space. With the cabinets it seems like it would feel more cramped, especially with the smaller bathroom.
Looking for some inputs from you experts:)
I vote for layout 3, esp if you have a boy and a girl! Kids grow up!
Our 1974 has a layout 3 (I don't think Scamp had a layout 6 back then.) Our two boys loved the bunks.
I second layout 3. We had a 13 with the front bunks and toddlers. Worked great and sort of their own space. I've seen a bunk over the side dinette, but even if you can do that they are right on top of you in the main bed.

that’s what I was thinking but that bathroom was appealing. Any one for layout 6
Layout 6 is great four 3, I heard of some modding a bunk four 4. Depending how old your kids are, you can sleep them head to toe on the side bunk. They grow up, they may not want to come anymore, then 6 is perfect four the two of you. Carl
My wife and I recently purchased a new 16 ft Scamp layout 4, with the idea of occasionally taking our 2 grandchildren on camping trips with us. The kids love the bunk beds and the smaller bathroom is really not an issue.
Good luck in making your decision...
My wife and I have 2 boys (10 & 7)... We got the layout 4 and it works perfectly for our family. We plan on doi
ng some modifications at some point to add a small dinette in front. That wat when it is just my wife and I we can eat without taking down the big bed, Check out the link below where a guy did a great modification where you can have both. Have fun. We love our scamp, it can be tight for 4, but the point is to get outside anyhow. The bathroom is nice for cold nights.
