Mold

13 ft Scamp ... about 10 yrs old.  Based in the Seattle area.  Problem:  We have a small amount of mildew and mold on the interior inner walls and inner roof. On the "fuzzy cream colored material".  I cleaned it with a vacuum cleaner, brush and boric acid mixture which I left in place.  Am looking for advice on a reasonable way to check the type of mold - should more occur - with the aim of getting good information without getting  ripped off by vendors or testors.  Also for other advice on cleaning methods.  Can anyone help?

Mold in Scamp

Hey Dave,

Pacific North Wet does present challenges. Some folks I've run across rewire the Scamps with Marine wire that live up there, because the moisture can start corroding the wire under the insulation.

Mold is normally cleaned/treated with a diluted bleach solution. Here is a how-to clean on the CDC website. Mold information page on the CDC site and more in-depth Mold information on CDC. You would need to safe test the "rat fur" in an area that is not visible to see if the bleach solution is OK to use on the fur first.

Sounds like as long as you get it cleaned up properly and keep on top of it, really should present no problems.

Mold Control

Mold Control works great for cleanup with none of the bleach issues. It also leaves a residue that prevents further mold growth. Found on Amazon or big box hwd. stores.
