Just picked up trailer and one small problem.. I think

Good Morning All:  Picked up trailer in Backus and left without a hitch.  Only one problem, and I'm not sure if this is normal or not.  I have all I can handle just to get door shut tight... both shutting from inside and outside.  It takes all my energy. Initially I thought it a strength issue just for me, but then my husband, John made the same comment.  Normal?   Look forward to hearing from you.  If it isn't normal it may involve a little ride up to see our friends at the hatchery, but my preference is not to with winter on the horizon.

Thank you,

Barb

tight door

Barb, when we picked up our new Scamp that door was very hard to open and to close, from both the outside and the inside, for the nine months we kept it,the door was always hard.We have a 16ft Casita now and the same thing with the door on it I hope you can do something to make it a little easier for you

New Seal

This is the first time anyone has mentioned this on a new trailer, but my guess is that it is because of the new seal that Scamp went to. As to why they didn't adjust that on yours so the door closes normal is anyone's guess. On existing trailers when the new seal is installed most are finding they have to shim the lock on the door to make it close easier. Since this is a new build I would call Scamp first and ask why it is doing this and then if a fix is necessary let them do the fix whenever convenient since you are close by.

You got me on that one. Funny Dave!

On another horizon, Greg's suggestion of a shim worked!  THANK YOU Greg.  I'm not that big of a person, but strong, so it was frustrating that it was the one stumbling block.  For delivery I had compiled my laundry list of questions that weren't addressed in manuals or videos and emailed it beforehand, so they were ready for me.  One adventure before tucking away.  This certainly beats tent camping or lodging costs. Barb,

Good to hear that the shim worked. That new seal they are using is quite robust which is a major improvement from the past ones. I ordered one and put it on my 97 19 and it really does a nice job, but it does make it difficult to close the door until you shim the lock.

Enjoy your adventure before storage and hopefully you now have a hitch! surprise

Tight door

we had scamp put a shim in the door of our 13 we got in June 2016.  The door is still tight, but closeable with a little tug.
