Interest in Scamp Rally next Spring, Cleveland, SC??

Hello Everyone,

We are new to the Scamp Forum, new owners as well as the whole shebang.  Anyhow I wanted to put this out in the air waves of this bulletin board how many would be interested in Linda and Me arranging for a Scamp & Bus Rally next Spring at Palmetto Cove Campground, Cleveland, SC.  I will post the link to their information here in this post for you to consider.  I already mentioned this in post in other areas week for last but not in the corrrect section of this forum.

IF tou wish to view some of our bus rally video's i made, go to (youtube, type in Garylee1945) in the search engine, there is many various video's to see.

I can promise you we will have a great time if this materializes with enough interest.  You will also enjoy seeing 30 or more 40' buses all modified differently by the owners.  Most of these buses are over 30 years old, there were once charter buses of greyhound buses etc.  All are different and the busnuts as we call ourselves are just as great a bunch of people to gather together as the Scamp owners.  We would like to encourage this rally at no upfront cost of any kind, you will be responsible for the camping cost, real reasonable, $24 per night with all hookups.  BUT< your camper has to be fully self contained (toilet & shower) per SC state law at this campground.  A porta potty counts as a toilet if that is what you have.  I will have to investigate if some of you who do not have showers can also attend for just the weekend without any problem and I will post that information later if there is an intereste in a Scamp rally.

The no cost situation I hope will entice you to come too, we can all take turns per our last names at supplying something for each meal and group it all together for each day we are there.  There is no need for Scamp Rally fees if we all pitch in like we should and make it fun for all.

I will just give you that information above and if there is an interest, we will plan more for everyone, there is a Winery only about 3 miles from the campground for instance, we could all plan a special lunch at this Winery, I promise you will love.  The owners are just beautiful and charming, the scenery is relaxing to enjoy viewing and the food is out of this world.  Anyhow, please post here if there is an interest.  NOTE:  This October, there is a mini-bus rally that is normally done every year, if anyone would like to have the rally then I have no problem with that but I need feedback to arrange if you would rather have a rally in October.  We will be back from our Alaska trip by then and look forward to a rally if you wish.

Here is link to the Palmetto Cove Camground, I will look forward to feedback to arrange if desired by some Scamp owners.

Thanks for considering,

Scamp rally at Cleveland, SC

Hello,

I did not see your name to address you properly, you are the first to respond to my question of having a rally in spring or would it be better in October?  Either way we can arrange it but need to know how many are really interested before expending the time to set up if no one really is interested.  October is cooler and so is April, better to camp to me than in the heat but these are the two times we can set up rallies.  Do you have a preference?

Hope others will respond one way or other to encourage an Eastern Rally as well, I am unsure how many Scamps are in the East Coast but how ever many can come you will not regret it.  The cost is real reasonable fot he campground, but all the anemities are there, a bldg. to use that houses 150 sit down people with cooking facilities for all meals out of the weather etc.  There will be music to enjoy and best of all, NO RALLY FEE except for the Park cost of camping.  We will all pitch in like it should be and keep all cost of traveling to a minimum for everyone and no profit for anyone.

Let me know what you think, we leave for Alaska in 3 days, I will try to arrange things to get started for the October rally which is I believe October 5 - 11th, 2014,  The busnuts also will be there and I know they will be as interested in our scamps as we will their buses.  They all have tours etc. of them, very interesting, lots of them are showing signs of downsizing and a scamp looks good to them when they only get 5 MPG!

Will watch for replies from those interested.

Fall a beautiful time

I grew up in Northeast GA, camped and hiked in the Table Rock area. Brevard NC  just north has many wonderful waterfalls and leaf season is beautiful. It may be a little early for good color the first part of Oct however. We are new to Scamp with delivery of a 13 soon!!   It will have no shower. I would think their are other RV campgrounds close by for those of us who normally use campground facilities. Could we then visit folks staying at Palmetto Cove?

We now live in the Charlotte NC area about 2 1/2 hrs away from Table Rock. We definately plan to be in the Smoky Mountain/ Blue Ridge area this fall looking for eggs. We visited the recent rally at Pidgon Forge TN. There were abour 30 eggs there.  Thanks for looking into this rally.

We are interested too.  Can't

We are interested too, but we can't make a commitment yet.  We also have 13' Scamp with potti, but no shower.  It's 40 years old, but has just been restored to "better than new."

Just recently discovered the Scamp, very curious, my sweetie and I think we want a used 16'. We live in West Ky near Paducah. We need to lay eyes on a real one. Pictures don't do justice. Can someone suggest where we might go see one in my part of the country.

Call Scamp they can give you

Call Scamp they can give you a referral to someone in your area.  I know there is someone that lives in the Paducah area because they've been having a gathering at Land Between Lakes the last couple of years.  I don't recall the month but I know it's past.

Passing through Western Kentucky

Wanna Scamp:

We plan on spending a night at Columbus Belmont State Park, probably the night of Nov 15, 16 or 17.  It's been 30 years since we camped there and we've always had great memories of listening to the river boats as they passed by!!  We'll be on our "maiden voyage", having just picked up our  2002 Scamp 5th wheel.  We'd be happy to have you come look.  Plans are subject to change, so I can't promise we'll be there, but that's the current plan.

PM me if interested and we can swap phone numbers.
