I am a New Member and would like to Introduce Myself

Hi Everybody,

I just joined this forum and think it will be a lot of fun. I currently own a casita and have been working and enjoying these fiberglass eggs since 2005 and may be able to contribute some of my knowledge to this forum.

I have been very active on other forums and really enjoy learning and helping out if i can

Welcome Joe!

Welcome Joe!

I've known Joe in the Molded Fiberglass world for many years now.  Great mechanical ability, so he will be a good resource to have here to help with trailer maintenanace and trailer modification issues.

I've still got to see his new to him 2010 13 Casita Patriot which was quite a find!

Once again, we're glad to have you join the SOI family.....

Casita Trailers

While taking our scamp home from South Carolina, we observed a caravan of little Casita trailers leaving a gas station across the street.  We waved and honked and they did as well. Great to see such little eggs out there! Location was western Tennessee.

13 foot Patriot is sold but i replaced it with a 2013 Casita Spirit Deluxe 17 foot model..... this is my third egg now as i got the fever real bad for these things.

Flyboy Scamp..... All the fiberglass trailers wave to each other. really a great bunch of people that i am proud to be part of. In february one of the biggest outings of the year is held at Quartzsite Arizona..... I went to my fiirst one this past February and parked next to Greg. I have to say it's one of the best times i've ever had and i counted about 90 eggs at that meet..... I will be there again about February 9-13 2015..... It's all free boondocking with great views

Hi Joe

Hi Joe, Doug here. Glad to have you as a member of the egg community. Arizona is a bit far for us right now.We are smack dab in the middle of America, just west of St. Louis MO. I live on the west side of the Missouri River and love it here. I am a retired professional pilot, but my younger wife still works for another 5 years. We just purchased our super clean 16 ft. scamp, and have been cleaning and prepping it for us. It is gorgeous and so like new. It came with tons of extras, just what we wanted. Next year lots of travel and weeks out with our beloved scamp.

Qurartzite Arizona

sure wish I could attend such a event, but by then, our trailer will be pickled away for the winter. Leaving this area at that time of year could bring snow, icey streets too. No, I doubt we could ever attend such an event at that time of year leaving here.

When we are on the road we constantly search for eggs! Sadly our egg is winterized full of antifreeze in all lines and traps and tanks. I so wish we could go to Quartzite, and maybe once my wife retires, we can make that trip, and loiter out west until winter breaks.

I have a good friend who is a retired professional pilot that owns and egg too. he lives in texas and is looking to move to Washinton state and is on his way there as we speak to look around in the Olympia area.

scamps are really good trailers and as you know finding one is not all that easy. from what i understand and i could be wrong but i believe scamp and casita are brothers who had a riff years back and went their separate ways..... the trailers are almost identical. Hang on to it as i wish i never sold my 1994 model. Most Scamps are pretty clean because people take care of them and they really hold their value well.

Hope we cross paths somewhere.... I run back east to see family occasionally and sometimes take I-44 up thru your town but most times i run I-40 out thru chatanooga and up I-81

Hi Joe

Yes Joe, we found a gem of a trailer. We took it to a RV center here in town, thinking we had  a problem. Circuit breakers looked on, but not fullly seated. All items worked fine. The technicians went all through our trailer and smiled. They commented on how nice it was and that it was very well built. Yes, finding one like we got must be tough for sure. The trip was truly worth it. It was long and demanding of me. I was up 26 hours at one point. We got a good deal, and a trailer that came with almost everything we desired in a new one. We even got a memory foam mattress topper! We were planning to purchase one. The inside and outside appear like new. Here is what we got: AC, Heat, 2 LP tanks, screen door, microwave, stove cover, outside AC, extra AC outlets inside, shower and potty, side dinette. The previous owner made a very nice wood step to place at the door, and we too now have that. We have plastic hooks at various places now, and installed a paper towel holder above the sink. We have had lots of folks inside now and all claim how new it looks. Yes, finding one in this condition, with all that we desired is tough. No comproises were made at all in getting this trailer. We are blessed. Home for us is st.Charles, Missouri, on the western side of the Missouri River. We love it here, squarley in the middle of America. We can get to Memphis, Nashville, Indianapolis, Chicago, Kansas City, Hot springs, and so much more in a 5-7 hour drive or less! Oh, we also got new tires!

Side Dinette

You Scored good.....I believe the side dinette with a bath up front is the more rarer model as i was talking to Greg and i'm almost sure he said that's a rare model. Excellent find and good luck with it. Keep it covered so it doesn't get that dulled out finish like many boats left uncovered. (with you being a pilot you know maintenance) Enjoy your weather there as it's been up around 110 degrees here the last few days...... Being from the east coast this is really hot and i don't care how dry it is, but mid Sept thru May is perfect
