First check your title. On top of your right frame tube right behind the coupler Scamp stamps the year and month of mfg. along with the serial number/VIN. Sometime in 1982 Scamp started using the 17digit VIN code before then they used serial numbers usually starting with E. If you search the Molded Fiberglass website you can find a Scamp VIN decoder to find the year of mfg. On newer Scamps they also attach a decal with the info. to the inside of the frame tube near the coupler.
Trailers built between 1971-1982 used a non-standard number. The serial number started with E and was followed by four or five numbers. Some of the earliest trailers may only have had three numbers. The number following the E was the year of manufacture. E7 would have been built in 1977.
Starting in 1982 Scamp used the appropriate 17 digit serial number. Years from 1982-1989 the 11th digit is the designated year number as follows. So the 11th digit of the serial number will match up to the year code as noted below.

1988 I (Scamp did use "I" which is a not valid number)
1989 J & K (Switch to K in mid year)
In 1990 the check digit changed to the 10th digit. So the 10th digit of the serial number will match up to the year code as noted below.

saturday. is a 1999 model. Now to clean up after the rainy trip form the mountains and think about doing a bit of renovation in side. My designated spousal unit wants to paint the cabinet doors ( wants ME to paint) a nice clean shiny white. Any known issue with doing that?
Is that info not included on the registration (licensure) papers?
