fridge vent

just ordered 2018 scamp 16ft, noticed roof fridge vent. has anyone had leakage? my 2014 scamp 13 did not have this. I had the smaller fridge In that one.  the vent is white, and about 10 " long, on right side of roof  near door. also ordered 2nd set of high tailights, any comments on these.  I choose layout #7, would like know If there is enough storage for clothing, since no closet to hang clothes. I am alone, so should be ok. The roof fan is not like the fantastic fan,how do you like it? will the cable tv outlet be above the side dinnette ? guess I would set tv on table when parked.  also- I will have a 10 month wait! thanks for taking time to read all of this-  happy trails - Bob

Fan

I can only comment on the fan. When I picked mine up in February I was pleasantly surprised that they'd changed to the Maxx Fan from what I"d seen before I ordered. I've really liked it. It has been a big help to be able to open the fan cover without worry of rain getting in just to keep a bit of air moving even without the fan being on.

Enjoy your new Scamp!

Items

We picked up our 2017 16 Deluxe this past spring.

  • Have not noticed any water issues with the roof mounted vent. I do see minor water issues with the lower vent at the back of the refrigerator. When you open (or take out) the lower vent cover you will note the vent frame is very level and flat and won't really prevent water intrusion. (Hard to describe in words) I intend to add something at the lower edge of the frame to help keep water out. As with any vent a stream of water from a garden hose would easily overcome any vent but normal rainfall and gravity will keep most things dry. Just something to watch.
  • We paid Scamp for the television/antenna option where they mounted the tv/antenna control/110v & 12 volt options in the rear corner by the bed/dining table. When we talked with Scamp about extra outlets for example we were able to specify, within reason, where they were to be placed. I would suggest if you want something specific for the outlets/television hookups etc. that you talk with them and plan those ahead of time. They often have suggestions that are very helpful.
  • The Maxxair fan is great! The built in rain cover, remote control, multi-speed fan works really nice.
  • Yes, the second set of tail lights I think is important for safety. I asked about LED's but they had no option for those when we purchased.

We chose to add just about every option they offered as retrofitting was beyond our capability. The prices seemed very fair and they were very helpful and easy to work with. Love ours and have enjoyed many trips this summer.

Maxx Fan and Outlets

I'm loving the Maxx Fan. I have some health issues that make it hard for me to regulate my own temperature and I love that if I'm having a hard day I can set low temp on the Maxx Fan controls and it will just keep the air flowing till it hits that temp. The controls also let you set how fast a fan speed you want -- 30, 40, 50, 100% I've also enjoyed being able to set the controls to suck air in or push it out. Very nice to have.

The other thing I am enjoying is all the extra outlets I had added. I added 3 12 volt outtets and I really like these because I put those little cigarette lighter USB plugs into them and everyone can easily recharge their phones or tablets overnight whether we have electricity or not.

Oh, and one other thing. I like the additional lights you can order. I had 4 put into my 13 ftr -- they are a high intensity bright light, LED, and they can be aimed right at something. These have come in really handy. And again, they can be used whether I have electricity coming in or not.

Dave, the production manager, is great about the placement of your extra lights and outlets when he does the preproduction phone call. And in the mean time your salesperson can help you with those decisions.

Hoping your adventures are wonderful,
Sue
