First Annual SOI Christmas in Sedona

Friday, December 13, 2013 to Sunday, December 15, 2013

This is an informal SOI drop-in gathering.  All are welcome!  This is the 1st Annual SOI Christmas in Sedona Gathering.  In the heart of Sedona, AZ, are shops and galleries at the quaint Talaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village.  Every year they hold the Festival of Lights. This year the festival is scheduled for Saturday, Dec 14 from 3-8p.m. The event has great Christmas shopping, multiple bands and musicians performing, a visit from Santa Claus, free cider, and lots of Christmas lights.  At 5 p.m. all in attendance begin to light the over 6,000 luminaries that surround the village.

The nearest campground is called Rancho Sedona RV Park. There are no scheduled SOI activities at the campground other than Meet and Greet, as the Festival of Lights is plenty of activity.   If you are able to attend, please let us know by either replying here via the SOI Forum or by emailing your space # to info@scampcamper.com.  We hope you can join us!

We are leaving snow covered,

We are leaving snow covered, cold Susanville tomorrow (Monday) after Bev's doctor appointment.  It is 800 plus miles to sunny, relatively warm Sedona.

Hope we get there in time for the festivities.

See you there,

Slow Traveling Bob

1st Annual SOI NOG (Not Organized Gathering)

We are home from a very enjoyable, relaxing event.  Thanks to Janea and Greg this was an excellent stress relief event.  Bev and I are partial to NOGs anyway.  No schedule to keep....did as we darned well pleased.

Sedona is a really interesting place to visit.  All the red cliffs and landscape are amazing.  The Christmas stuff going on in the area has a lot of variety and should appeal to most any taste.  Those shops at that shopping center (cannot possibly spell the name of the place, but I know how to get there next year! LOL) have a lot of nice stuff!

As usual, pre-holiday stuff was starting to get us down at home so the timing of Sedona was perfect.  We Scamped just long enough to relax but not too long to get behind on holiday preps.  Of course, the warmer than Susanville temps did not hurt our feelings at all either.  However, there sure were a lot of open sites in that great RV Park.

Of course, for me (Bob), the star watching and Germinid meteor shower was awesome in Arizona's clear as a bell mountain sky!!!

Thanks for a great event.

Bev and Bob

First Annual SOI Christmas in

First Annual SOI Christmas in Sedona was wonderful.  The event really gets you in the spirit of Christmas and the weather was beautiful.  Great to meet Bob & Bev and Molly & Sissy!  We also had a terrific Canadian couple Chad & Shannon and their children who are taking a 1 year sabbatical from managing a resort property in Banff/Lake Louise.

The Escape 17 Styling at her first event!

The Christmas celebration at Tlaquepaque was excellent as always!

Decorations, luminaries, bands playing everywhere, hot cider carts, and can't forget Santa!

And of course, HOLIDAY SALES in the shops!

We'll get the dates for next years SOI Christmas in Sedona on the calendar as soon as they release them and we hope to see you there next year.  Merry Christmas!
