Every time we use the camper under 110 power in order to get anything to work on 12 volt I have to hook a battery charger up, not that the battery needs charged. Do you have to do this to get the inverter box to switch over to 12 volt, is that why? Does anyone know?

Can you run anything on 12 volts before the AC-110 is plugged in? Alfred is asking this for clarification.

no once i unplug from 110 nothing works on 12volt until i give it a jolt from a battery charger for a few minutes
I once had an RV where the polarity from the onboard battery charger was hooked up backwards, thereby discharging the battery when 110 V was plugged in. Check the polarity.

My husband says his thought is that the converter isn't putting out 12 volt DC which it should be doing. Summary: Converter isn't putting out 12 volts so the battery is not being charged. You should be able to open the panel and see the fuses and the breaker.

I located an excellent converter in-depth troubleshooting document that explains the process of metering points on the converter panel for different issues. Even if this isn't your particular brand it will be very similar across all converters. I will also add this thread to the maintenance table of contents so it can be found quickly in the future.
