I ordered a digital antenna for the Casita and we wanted to know if it worked ok,but didnt want to go bring the trailer home.So Launey unhooked our cable from the tv out on the patio and hooked up the antenna which we just put in the back yard, and low and behold the thing brings in 66 channels here at our house.Hope it works half way good when we go somewhere mobile. Now I am thinking.....I am paying $83 a month to Cox cable?really, for an added few channels

Antenna for the Casita
With the conversion to digital, over-the-air-TV, many people have dropped their cable entirely.
As Always,
Happy Scamping !!!
Its funny because we took our new antenna to sisters house in western Ks and hooked it up to all of their tvs,Launey connected em all up and she got enough channels that she kept our antenna that he had hooked up and took all her cable boxes back to Cox and dropped her $100 a month bill. I didnt want to go home without one so I ordered another one in and it was here at sons house waitiing for us when we got here. We are going to try this one at our sons in a few days to see if he wants to drop his cable, Hope we get home with one for the Casita, which was the oringinal plan to begin with

We went to an antenna on our home and got rid of cable 8+ years ago. @ $64 a month for 12 months = $768 per year x 8 years we're pretty far ahead now. We get about 70 channels and we're way out from Phoenix, but still good. Computer under each TV hooked up to stream all the free stuff when something isn't on the others. We also use the free Microsoft Media Center which is a free Tivo for recording and scheduling things when we're not around or watching something else.

I dont know why I didnt ever think of shedding that cable bill at home. You have saved alot of money over the years Greg.I only got it for the Casita and it never made it in there haha. His sis is delighted that she has no more cable bill and now Launey is concidering getting another one for the house when we go home and cutting off cable....What it boils down to at home is we get almost all for free except for 3 channels he watches and a person has to ask theirselves if its worth the $83 a month for 3 channels and the answer is no. Our bill was about the same as yours years ago but they keep getting getting increases so you have saved more money then you are thinking :-) We have Tivo and like you,can record what we cant watch, just think with the money a person saves,it means more each month to spend on toys for the trailers or to just get out and take it somewhere....I need to think of more things around the house we could live without hahaha...house phone would go since we wont answer it anyhow, but the Tivo and house alarm uses it,oh well guess it will have to hang around a while yet

We dropped U-Verse and now have Direct TV, and when that contract is ended, we are done with pay TV. On any pay TV,most first 100 channels are worthless. Now with free TV and all the digital channels we get, we are more than pleased with free TV.

I hear what you both are saying,Im wondering why we keep paying the high cable bills when so many other things are available to us for free once we buy the antenna,we wouldnt have even thought about using one at home since this is for the trailer, but just wanted to know if it worked

We got the new Kings antenna at the factory, what Scamp is now using. They tried over a dozen antennas and selected the Kings model, what we now find at Camping World. In our driveway, we get over 38 free channels, and at home we got well over 30. Anxious to end our contract with Direct TV, and be done with pay TV.

Hi Earlene,
Sounds interesting, what type of antenna did you get? I have the Winegard Rayzer in my Scamp and it works pretty good but only pulls in about 10 stations in the house. I would be extremely happy to cut the cord and not have to pay Comcast over $150 every month.

Hi Art and Luann,We bought the ClearStream 2v indoor/outdoor HDTV antenna has a mount and 60 mile range.$99 at Amazon.Several people on Casita site are using it so we thought we would try it,very satisfied.Going to take it to Ks this week to try it at our sons in the east and sister in the west and see how it works for them

We got the Kings antenna while at the factory. All Camping World centers have them. They are well under $200.00 and take only about an hour to install. We get over 38 stations while the Scamp is in the driveway and over a dozen. Get the Kings antenna and enjoy many station.
