Hello to all. I am currently helping a computer challenged buddy wirh his new to him 13'Scamp. Main issue right now is how to safely remove the installed ac unit so he can replace with one that works. Thanks for any hints. PG

AC Roofmount

Philip,

Is that a Roof Mount RV AC unit or is it mounted in a window, etc?

What brand/model #?

Year of Scamp 13 and was it a factory install?

Eddie, my buddy and the owner

Eddie, my buddy and the owner, believes it was a factory install. We are waiting on  title to return in New Mexico to find out the year.

We'll need you to upload inside/outside pics of the install so we can see what we're dealing with.  Scamp did do a factory room ac install at the base of the closet before they reinforced the roof for roof mount.

It shouldn't be a hard replacement if it is a factory closet mount unit.  You remove the trim on the inside and there are probably some brackets to unscrew.  Unit should simply unplug from an outlet in the back and lift out to the interior of the trailer.

I am not with the Scamp and will have to wait for pics. I passed on the comment about removal and he will check it out. Thanks for all the help.

I recently did an install in

I recently did an install in the under the closet house ac type unit and i did a complete writeup on it on another forum..... It was fairly easy and if you need it i will have to look thru my files to try and find it. If you have any questions on that type of install just ask.

AC replacement

Thank you sir. Eddie-the owner- is going to see about removing the current unit tomorrow. If he runs in to any trouble we will shout at you. He is considering just taking the current non-working unit out and placing an RV "swamp cooler' in the same location. He lives in  the mountains and seldom has to deal with humidity. more later. PG
