Anyone know of a place in or around the Richmond, VA/ Tri-city area that installs 5th wheel hitches into the bed of a Nissan Frontier? I've called 5 different places around and no one is willing to do the work. They all say that the Frontier is not made for 5er towing (even after I explain) and/or the work they would if they could do, wouldn't be covered under warranty. I actually just bought a used Escape 5.0 but know that there are more Scamps in the US and maybe there might be a Scamp 19' owner(s) in this area that know of a hitch place that can and is willing to think outside of the box (so to speak).
P.S. please don't hate on me for saying i own an Escape ;)
I appreciate any info in advance
I was saw a pretty good sized 5th wheel pulled by an old dodge 1/2 ton p/u truck i actually talked to the owner he said no problems i cannot believe as light as that 5th wheel is you will have any problems pulling it.
find yourslelf a reliable small time mechanic who will do the work for you at way less money anyway!!
I've always gotten my axle/welding work done at horse trailer outfits. They put on fifth wheel hitches on all kinds of trucks all the time and are more flexible to work with. I'm sure you have some around you.

Sharon, did you end up having any success? I'm in Raleigh and am having a bear of a time trying to get someone to help us out with our Frontier.
Has anyone had any luck having a 5th wheel hitch installed into a Nissan Frontier short bed? We're in Missouri and having a hard time locating anyone to do it.
We did end up finding someone locally. It was a huge pain and we got turned down several times. When we did find someone who would do it they would not warranty their work. After all the searching we were fine with that and I will say they did a great job with installation. Best of luck to you. Keep reaching out to places and hopefully you will find someone!

Thanks for your encouragement and feedback! I see that I wasn't as specific as I should have been..... At some point, our new-to-us 2004 19' was converted to a true fifth wheel with king pin. It is not the standard goose neck hitch that most Scamp 19' trailers use. Has anyone come up with the correct hitch and installation details for a Nissan Frontier short bed? We now own the Scamp and a brand new truck and are having no luck getting a hitch installed. The hitch that came with the trailer does not fit our truck and the trailer/hitch company declined to make the adjustments. Thanks for any help!
