Hi All: Is anyone scheduled to view the total solar eclipse that will happen August 21, all across the middle of the U.S. from Oregon to South Carolina? We will be at a campsite in eastern Oregon and hope to drive to the band of totality somewhere in the John Day country! This is a once in a lifetime event.... the last total solar eclipse within the US was in 1979. Just thought I'd let everyone know about it...... however there are thousands of astronomers and star (planet) gazers who do know about it, and it may be crowded within the band of totality. Check it out at Sky and Telescope:

NASA also has some information on it too. Might see you there or in the campground!
We are taking our Lance to Tennessee for a front row sight. We shall be near the central viewing point and are sure looking forward to it.

I am flying to Denver, will rent a car and drive north to a spot north of Scotts Bluff, NE for the day. I was hoping that by that time we would have completed our move to CO, but it is not quite that far along. A lot of people are hoping for a cloudless day on August 21!
