$17 to fill 5 gallon propane tank?

Is $17 a fair deal for Scamp to offer to fill the 5 gallon propane tank ?  It sounded a bit high to me, but the salesman said they like to fill the tank so the technicians can test the gas appliances in your new Scamp.  Hmmm. seems like the appliances should be tested with or without the customer paying for a propane fill.  What do you normally pay to fill a 5 gallon propane tank? Should I just suck it up and pay $17?

Fair price

Tank exchanges around me are running $20, tank refills are running a little less. The testing will hardly use any gas and you have the rest to use for yourself. Besides that you don't have to deal unbolting, removing and bolting the tank back down. My understanding is, Casita delivers their trailers with empty tanks and you have go get your own tanks filled.

Propane cost

Today, I paid $19 for a 20# refill at Suburban Propane plus $8 to have the tank re-certified. If the tank had been manufactured within the last 12 years, I could have had it filled at BJ's for $10. Tank exchanges often contain only 15# of propane.

Fair Price

That's a fair price to fill a brand new tank. I would do that, much easier for everyone to leave factory with full tank.
