First Scamp

We are looking to purchase our first Scamp, a 13 footer.  I noticed one in Oregon, a 78 with everything gutted and new.  They are asking 10,000 which sounds alot for a 40 year old trailer but with everything replaced I would like to know if it's worth checking out.  thanks

It depends on what they have done to it and the condition of the floor and frame. But it sounds high to me. Location will affect price also. Good luck! He has made a lot of changes, try to get a weight before you drive that far to look at it. You will be adding battery and lp tank(s) to what shows in the picture.

(WOW! It looks nice and they may get the price, but I do not like the unvented heat.)

Newer Scamps

Before I bought my 2013 Scamp last year, I had the vintage trailer "bug", and looked at a ton of them online and in person.  My husband convinced me that I really did not want to haul a 50+ yr old trailer by myself.  I am not mechanical, and he didn't want to spend a lot of time fixing little issues that would crop up with a vintage trailer either.  I am so happy I actually listened to him this time!  My Scamp was 3 yrs old and barely used.  I have put about 2000 trouble-free miles on it.  You may or may not be tinkering with small repairs constantly with an older trailer...and some people LIKE to tinker so an older trailer may be your cup of tea.   Everyone is different, but I just wanted to enjoy my trailer, and I am!

Ours is a 95 owner claims he has put a new axle possibley a new frame under it.  Frankly i dont see much that can go wrong with these little gems no matter their age unles someone has trashed theirs out and trying to unload it!!!
