Picked up our new Scamp in Backus on May 15.
Arrived back home June 2.
We LOVE!!! the Scamp.
Camped at Rutgers Pine Mountain Resort five miles from Eveland’s for two nights to make sure everything worked okay.
We then towed / camped to Custer State Park SD.
The tow vehicle is a 2016 Toyota Tacoma access cab, 2wd, 2.7 liter 4 cyl, automatic transmission with no factory tow package.
I installed:
The charge line with a battery isolator, 4 gauge battery cable AND a 4 gauge ground cable from the battery to the 7 way plug.
We can run the refrigerator on 12v and arrive at our next destination with a cold refrigerator and a fully charged battery.
An electric brake controller with 10 gauge wire from the controller to the 7 way plug.
No problem in the Black Hills of South Dakota 75-80 mph uphill.
When we arrived May 19 at the Sylvan Lake campground at Custer State park, it was 30 degrees with 4 inches of snow on the ground.
Furnace worked great. This truly is a 3 season camper.
We are extremely happy with this camper.
Sounds like you put the Scamp through its paces. What a great trip. Thanks for sharing, it keeps me motivated to get out there and do some traveling/camping.
Very exciting!! I'm driving to Backus in early July to pick up our 13 footer! Did you like Pine Mountain Resort? I also plan on staying in the area for a day or two to check out all systems. It's a long drive back to Connecticut!

Hello Anthony,
Yes Pine Mountain Resort was nice. We usually camp in State Parks so this was our first stay at a privately owned camp ground.
Some sites are less than optimal but it is only 5 miles from the factory,
The showers and bathroom are new looking.
The owners are great, very friendly and accommodating.
We stayed for one night when we picked our 16 up last month. It worked fine for us and the bathrooms were clean and host friendly.
We did have a door seal adjustment and picked up a missing owners manual the next day at the factory. I highly recommend the close stay near the factory and turning on everything to see how it all performs.
Enjoy!

Great report! Always exciting to hear of folks picking up their new Egg! How did she handle in the snow?

Thanks for making us feel so welcome.

Hello Mark,
We did not run into any snow on the roads.
Sylvan Lake Campground at Custer is 6,300 Ft elevation. Hence the temperature and snow.
