Hi,
I was given a 198_ something Scamp and pulled out the rotting inside walls. I would like to rewire the towing lights but can't figure out what is going on. Some wires change color and loop back into other ones. Does anyone have a standard wiring schema or know what color wire goes where? I have green, white, brown and yellow wires. Thank you!
The only diagram Scamp has put out is in the Scamp Manual located in the Resource section. The wiring diagram is around the last page of the manual.
You are most likely dealing with previous owner wiring repairs as well.

Those four colors are the standard colors for all four pin trailer brake and tail light wiring systems. White is Ground. Brown is tail/driving lights. Yellow is for the left turn and brake lights and the green is for right turn signal and brake lights. The turn signals and brake lights use the same filament in the respective left or right light fixture. For the rest of the wiring just trace each wire to see what it is connected to. Good luck!
Scamp has always used the Bargman wiring code for the running lights, brakes, 12 vdc and BU lights on their trailers. The yellow, brown, green and white wiring (YBGW) code is used on cargo and utility trailers and is pushed by E-trailer. If you have YBGW wiring in your Scamp it was installed by a PO.
