License plate hardware

I'm finally done procrastinating! (I'll probably do more tomorrow, I'm not in the mood now. wink) It's taken me almost 2 months, but I've finally gotten the title and registration taken care of so I have my new plate to put on the Scamp. Before I scrounge hardware from my basement or make a trip to the home improvement store, is there anything other than the obvious bolt and nut? Bolt and lock nut or loctite? Is there even any issue with vibration loosening the license plate hardware?

License Plate Bolts

I was going to answer this yesterday, but I thought about it and I'll answer it tomorrow...

A nut and bolt will  work just fine. If you  are going to buy new bolts, go with Stainless Steel. A little bit of Loctite won't hurt anything.

As Always,

Happy Scamping !!!

License Plate

They do make nylon bolt and nut sets specifically for license plate applications. They can be found in most auto parts stores, and can be another option.

License plate bolts

In Minnesota they put a lot of corroding chemicals on the roads .  I use 1/4 inch stainless bolts, not screws,  with stainless nylock nuts.  I put the nuts toward the rear.  This allows me to put wrenches on both the nut and bolt.  (It prevents stripping.)

Zip ties

I just used zip ties to attach the license plate.  No problems after two years.
