Keyless Locks

Has anyone tried keyless locks for their Scamp doors?  Any recomendations?  It seems it would nbe nice to not have to worry about a key.

Keyless

I agree, I hate carrying keys! All locks should have sensors for thumb print. seriously, TV, trailer, hitch lock, tire lock, bike locks. I don't even like one key, of course I ALWAYS LOOSE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

Ask Cheryl.

Keyless Lock

The design of the Scamp door latch would probably make it difficult to find a keyless replacement latch.

However, you could probably find a keyless dead bolt that could function as the door lock and then disable the locking mechanism inside the original latch.

I would also suggest you look into mounting the keyless lock on the Scamp next to the door versus mounting the new lock on the door itself. You might find it easier to mount a latch onto the door rather than mounting the lock onto the door.

One other thought...

Many busses (RV Conversions) have a locking mechanism similar to the Scamp's. You might be able to find a keyless lock that would operate on a bus versus a "RV" style keyless lock.

Be prepared to open your wallet for any solution you find though...

If you really want to do it up right you could get an RFID lock, maybe even have an RFID capsule implanted for maximum convenience !!!

As Always,

Happy Scamping !!!

Keyless Lock

This is the Keyless RV Lock that a lot of the Escape folks have been using. It is pretty much a stock replacement for the standard rv door lock on most trailers. Some Scamp folks have modded to the keyed version of the rv door lock so this can probably be done with a little bit of inventiveness.

I would think that this style of Keyless RV Lock would be fairly simple to mod into a Scamp door as well.

If you try it, we need plenty of pictures and the process!
